DINING DOLLARS FROM OVER 250,000 DINERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Houston Restaurant Weeks announced record-breaking results achieved during their month-long event held in August 2013. Founder and event chair Cleverley Stone was joined by Houston Food Bank’s president/CEO Brian Greene and board chair John Ragan, participating chefs, restaurateurs and sponsors in revealing the $1,285,260.00 donation commitment for 2013 to benefit Houston Food Bank. HRW is the largest single annual fund raiser for America's largest food bank. It is the largest restaurant weeks of its kind in the United States.
DONATIONS RAISED FROM RESTAURANTS IN SURROUNDING COUNTIES WILL STAY WITH THOSE COUNTIES.
Donations from Harris County restaurants will go to the Houston Food Bank; Galveston County restaurants' donations will be given to the Galveston County Food Bank and funds raised from Montgomery County restaurants will be donated to the Montgomery County Food Bank.
The Houston Food Bank has three Partner Distribution Organizations (PDOs): the Brazos Valley Food Bank, the Galveston County Food Bank and the Montgomery County Food Bank. The Houston Food Bank provides food to these smaller food banks, which in turn distribute the food to hunger relief charities in a portion of Houston Food Bank's service area. The Houston Food Bank certifies that PDOs meet Feeding America standards.
